(Beginners or Intermediate 1 & 2 families)
Its time to register for our next 2017-2018 school year. Our families get first priority to register. Please look in your emails for the priority registration packet that will come out on Friday, January 13, 2017 until Friday, January 20, 2017. After that, registration is open to the public at our OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, January 21, 2017. There are great incentives to re-register for the next school year for our returning parents. Please keep an eye out for the *Priority Registration* email.

Mrs. Quinn or Mrs. Cooper from our elementary schools in the area will be contacting you shortly by email to send you their priority registration packet. You can return it to our office and we will make sure the elementary school receives it. If you are going to enroll into our Merryhill Kindergarten program we do recommend our joining our summer camp program.

Its the Year Of The Fire Rooster! We are in the process of booking the following company for a show. We are very excited to see them come to our school.

We have all heard that the first five years of a child’s learning is very important. Here at Merryhill School it is part of our philosophy and our motivation in teaching children. We have had so many changes in the way children learn academics now verses in the past. I would like to hold a parent night to answer important questions and show parents the NEW way of teaching curriculum and academics. It’s so important that we teach our students the NEW way so that they are able to better adapt to our new culture of:

We will go over how children learn at this age, styles of learning, and what is appropriate to teach them at their age, behavioral standards, and state cutoffs. This is a good time to ask questions. Our goal is to educate our parents on how children learn so that we can work together in supporting our students learning goals. We would like our parents to feel confident that they have a chosen the best program for their child.
I Have a Dream -Prek2 Classroom
This year our students in our Prek2 classroom will be presenting in our “I Have a Dream” show. Parents are welcomed to come and join the students as they go up and share what their dreams in the Prek2 classroom at 3:30 pm on Friday, January 13, 2017.

Operation Christmas Child- UPDATE

An update on our progress for Operation Christmas Child 2016. Our students were able to put together 100 boxes in November for children who have never received a gift. The boxes shipped to the following countries: Philippines, Indonesia Ukraine, Aruba, and the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar . Thank you so much for all of your donations. The students learned so much during this project. We will let you know of any media coverage that comes out.

Students at Merryhill Preschool in Milpitas Celebrate Earth Day by Investigating
the Best Environments for Conserving Water When Growing Plants
Students planted fruits and vegetables after discovering that plastic terrariums are best for growing plants and conserving water
MILPITAS, Calif. (April XX, 2016) – On April 22, students at Merryhill Preschool on Corning Avenue in Milpitas celebrated Earth Day by planting a garden of fruits and vegetables using a gardening method that conserves water. Leading up to Earth Day, students tested which environment – soil, sand or a plastic terrarium – uses less water to grow plants. For 20 days, they watched seeds sprout and measured plant growth and the amount of water used. Students learned that the terrarium, which was made from a plastic bottle with cloth, was the most effective as it re-used water from condensation within the bottle. On Earth Day, students planted more seeds in homemade terrariums for the school’s garden. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at a young age.

Parent Videos & Photos
If you are video-taping or taking pictures at our school they must be only of your child. Please do not post videos or pictures of other children as it is a violation of their privacy. If you have accidentally posted pictures or videos of other children, please remove them immediately. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Nut-free School
We have a nut-free policy at our school. Please keep all peanut items at home. We have children with severe allergies.
Medication and Sunscreen Policy Reminder
Just a friendly reminder that our medication policy states that we can only administer medicine that has been prescribed by a doctor. We cannot administer over the counter medication without a doctor’s note with explicit instructions on how to administer it.
Regarding sunscreen, if you would like your child’s teacher to apply sunscreen throughout the summer months, please complete the “Sunscreen Authorization Form” located in the front office. We ask that you bring your child in their own sunscreen and apply a coat of sunscreen before they come to school. All sunscreen will be applied after nap unless noted differently by a parent.

MILPITAS, Calif. (FEB. 1, 2016) – Pre-kindergarten students at Merryhill Preschool in Milpitas donated non-perishable food items to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. The students learned about hunger awareness and what kinds of items were appropriate to donate through story time with the Second Harvest Food Bank turkey mascot. Following the event, students donated the bin full of food to the organization, which will benefit members of the community.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has become one of the largest food banks in the nation, providing food to nearly a quarter of a million people each month. The Food Bank mobilizes individuals, companies and community partners to connect people to the nutritious food they need.
