Thank you for our families who came to our Christmas Performance of The Nutcracker and the 4 Realms of Merryhill Preschool!

The Nutcracker and the 4 Realms of Merryhill Preschool

A magical story about Princess Clara and the Nutcracker trying to find the key to the Kingdom in the 4 realms of Merryhill Preschool (each classroom was setup in 4 different realms ). If Clara finds the magic key she is able to go back home to her Kingdom.

Beginners: (Land of the Sweets)

Intermediate 1: (Land of the Christmas Trees)

Intermediate 2:  (Land of the Snowflakes)

Prek2:  (Land of Amusements)

The Nutcracker helped Clara find the magic key and she got to return to her Kingdom! Hooray for the Nutcracker!

I have a Dream!

Every year we have our annual Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a Dream” speech contest. Our Prek and Prek2 classrooms share with their families what they want to be when they grow up. The students can do a small skit of what they would like to be when they grow up. Parents are welcomed to come on January 17, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A small scholarship will be awarded to the most inspirational speech.

Operation Christmas Child

Every year our students talk about hunger and basic needs awareness. Our students collected basic needs items such as socks, shoes, clothing, toys, educational supplies, and etc. for a child in the same age group as themselves. They sorted all the items during a “Packing Party” and packed enough to fill a shoebox for their international friends overseas. I am happy to announce that our students packed 100 boxes! Thank you parents for your donations. Here is the full story!

Then email me a copy of the picture at lucy.nunez@nlcinc.com and your child will be entered in a raffle to win a prize. Congratulations to Rivaan W. for winning the prize! Report cards and Parent Teacher Conferences

Thank you for coming to our parent/teacher conferences. We had more than 70% of our parents come to the conferences. Please look out for the next conferences in March of 2020.

Reading Program

Reading Program/Homework  is meant to be a positive experience for your child. Its not mandatory to do the homework. The program was created for a social emotional development experience. Setting aside a specific time daily for your children reduces behavioral issues in the long run. We are just giving parents some activities to do during this time.  Please set aside a 20-30 minutes per night for your Prek or Prek2 child  and 10-20 minutes for Intermediates. If your child is refusing to practice writing, there are other alternatives; playdough, legos, setting up the table, folding laundry, helping to wash dishes, or clean off the dinner table. All these activities use their small motor skills and they are still building their muscles in their fingers. The book does not need to be read per verbatim. Have your child try and guess what is happening in the book. If your children want to talk with you about something this is also a good time to do so. Let us know if you are needing support.

Prek2 Uniforms

Uniforms can be purchased from the website below for the Prek2 class:

The bottoms can be purchased at Walmart, Target, or Durable wear uniforms and must be either navy blue or khaki. The tops must be purchased from Queensboro uniforms and can be light blue, hunter green, or burgundy. You can have items shipped here to avoid shipping charges. All students are required to wear uniforms in the Prek2 classroom Monday through Thursday. On Friday they get a free dress day. If you are planning to continue our Merryhill Elementary, it is recommended to purchase the burgundy shirts.

They will be teaching our students how to play basketball. Please look for signups which will be sent via tadpoles sometime in January 2020.
