Health & Safety Home / About Us / Health & Safety How We Keep Children Safe & Happy at Merryhill Preschool San Jose Families trust us with what matters most, and we don’t take that lightly. Providing a healthy, safe, nurturing environment is our highest priority at Merryhill Preschool San Jose, backed by comprehensive practices that follow the latest guidance from local and state health departments. Building Security From the front door on, safety is built into our daily routine. Only registered families, staff, and approved visitors may enter, and every visitor checks in at the front desk, shows ID, and wears a visitor badge. Pick-up requires prior family authorization, and we verify ID and confirm our approved pick-up list before releasing any child. Healthy Habits Keeping our classrooms healthy starts with keeping sick children home. If your child isn’t feeling well in the morning, we ask that you keep them home to rest and recover. If they become ill during the school day, we’ll care for them and call you promptly. Children also practice covering coughs and sneezes and washing their hands. Fighting Germs We know how quickly germs travel among young children, so our staff cleans classrooms and common areas throughout the day, with extra attention to doorknobs, light switches, and toys. We ensure that all cleaning products are stored securely in locked cabinets, out of children’s reach. Caring Educators Our teachers are carefully screened through background checks and interviews to confirm they’re ready to work with young children. They receive ongoing training in child abuse awareness and prevention, CPR, allergy protocol, first aid, supervision, and behavior management, so they can respond calmly and quickly when it counts. We follow a face-to-name rule so every child is known, watched, and accounted for throughout the day.
