Exploring the world of STEM
Students will need STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education for future success in school and careers. Our students experience STEM through challenging and fun projects that encourage problem solving, decision making and innovation. They also participate in technology courses, such as typing, podcast and video production, presentation software, Microsoft® Office, introductory video game production, coding and robotics.
Genius Hour introduces students to key traits connected to success: perseverance, motivation, and productivity. The students then use these traits as they learn the skills necessary to carry out a project that they designed. Students will learn research skills, how to plan, how to reflect, and how to redesign or revamp plans. Each student will then have the opportunity to work on a project of their choosing, using the key traits and skills that they acquired.
Our technology-rich environment aids in the development of 21st century skills and also helps us customize each child’s learning. We provide students in fourth and fifth grade with their own iPad® to interactively engage with content and easily access information.
