Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson - First Grade

Welcome to my webpage!  My name is Elizabeth Wilson and I love teaching 1st Grade!

Vision:

To develop students who are competent and creative thinkers, curious and confident learners, and compassionate citizens.

A little about me:  This is my third year with Merryhill and my second teaching first grade.  I earned a BA in liberal studies and a minor in art history from Cal State, Chico.  My husband and I are almost empty nesters and we live in Land Park with our three spoiled cats!  In my free time I like to take day trips around our beautiful state and spend time with family and friends.

First Grade Highlights:

  • We will develop an understanding of different strategies to use in addition and subtraction. As well as learn about time, measurement, money and attributes of shapes.
  • We will begin novel studies which will allow us to sharpen our comprehension and strengthen our vocabulary.
  • We will write a variety of pieces including opinion, narrative, and informative.
  • We will understand civic, economic, geographic, and historical concepts.
  • We will expand our knowledge of Earth, life, and physical sciences..

Homework

Students will not have Homework in First Grade. During Study Hall students will be working on unfinished work. Any unfinished work from the week will be sent home on Friday to be finished over the weekend. We will also have more one-on-one time in small group, and focus on lessons on iReady and First in Math.
