Teacher Bio – Ms. Fernandez
I consider myself lucky to have been born and raised here in Sacramento. I grew up spending my weekends exploring Old Sacramento, the Capitol, and many of the gorgeous parks in our area. After attending college in the Bay Area, I returned to Sacramento to begin my teaching career. I joined Merryhill Midtown eight years ago and it’s been a wonderful experience for my whole family! My son, Amir, is in 8th grade and we love the community here!
This is my sixteenth year teaching second grade and I am always excited to share my experience and love of teaching with my class! I am confident students will have a great year full of fun, growth, and a tremendous amount of learning.
In second grade, we:
– Focus on improving reading fluency and comprehension and become thoughtful and engaging writers.
– Learn about states of matter, plants and animals, land changes, and more!
– Review math concepts and explore new ways of thinking about and manipulating numbers.
– Explore the geographical features of the Unites States, learn about our local and national governments, and remember heroes from the past who helped shape our world.
Our class collaborates to solve problems, thinks creatively, and grows together. And we have a lot of fun in the process!
