March News

A Message From the Principal:

Dear Parents,
We, together with Nobel Learning Communities, Inc., are constantly working to improve our school. I wish to extend a special thank you to each of our families who took the time to complete our Parent Annual Survey this past January. The collection of your responses has been completed by our Corporate Office and shared with me. I will use your feedback as we move forward setting our new goals for school improvement. And I encourage each of you to call or make an appointment with me at anytime to address any of your concerns, suggestions, or just to chat to get to know each other better.

Your response to the survey indicated a high level of overall satisfaction with our school. The small
classroom size, teacher quality, challenging curriculum and the warm environment were the most important reasons for attending Merryhill Elementary. We are committed to ensuring your satisfaction by maintaining these outstanding elements of our program and continuing to offer our students exceptional learning experiences. I noted on our PAR Report that there was a request for more communication from our specialty classes. Hence, I will highlight one of each of our specialty classes in my monthly newsletter. So please read on and learn about the latest and greatest in Music with Mrs. Ellsworth. Also, I would like to encourage parents to let the classroom teachers know that you would like any of the Specialty Teachers to join you at your child’s conference or please feel free to email any of the Specialty Teachers at any time. Specialty Teachers as well as the classroom teachers have a webpage listing on our school website at http://Summerlin.MerryhillSchool.com which I would encourage you to visit.

During my classroom visits, I am particularly impressed by the patience, the quality of instruction, and dedication of our Merryhill teachers. I am pleased by our students’ positive and happy comments for their studies, teachers, and classmates. I am encouraged further by the involvement of our Merryhill parents in our students’ education. This past year working with the PTO we have been able to offer several family events and I am thrilled with the number of families that have joined us for Movie Night, Trunk or Treat, and Pastries for Parents.

If you have not already done so I encourage you to register your child for the next school year as soon as possible. To effectively plan for expanding programs and staffing it is imperative I know student enrollment as soon as possible. And speaking of planning ahead, it is not too early to begin to think about Summer Camp. Our camp includes five days of activities, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. You can choose to add extended hours and specialty camps to your menu of summer fun. We offer a range of outdoor activities, plus indoor activities conducted in our fully air conditioned facility. Our specialty camps are optional programs, operating during regular camp hours, which provide even more choices for unique and exciting adventures.

Please consider my door always open to you and do not hesitate to call me directly at 702-242-8838. As always, I thank you for being part of our Merryhill family.
Sincerely,
Theresa Gotay, Principal
