SUMMER NEWS

From the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents,

We are very pleased and proud to announce that Merryhill Elementary has been awarded re-accreditation for another five years!  It is such a honor and pleasure to showcase our school, students, staff and families.  I wish to extend a special thank you to each of the parents, students and teachers who participated in the interview luncheon. The Accreditation Visiting Team expressed their appreciation for our warm and supportive community.

Our last week of school is short but sweet:

Monday, June 1st, Talent Show, Pizza Party and Dance

         Tuesday, June 2nd, Field Day

Wednesday, June 3rd, Memory Book Signing and Early Dismissal at 10:45 and 11:00 Special Note If you did not order a yearbook you may purchase a book for $20 but the cover will not be personalized.

And now it is time to start planning our next school year.  Please register your child soon if you have not already done so.  To effectively plan for expanding programs and staffing it is imperative I know student enrollment as soon as possible.  And several grades have already filled a classroom and there is always a chance that we may not have the needed enrollment to fill a second or third classroom which would result in not having a placement for your child.

This year we have developed our supply lists and ordered supply kits so you may purchase your supply kit now for the coming year.  Please see attached lists and pricing.  If you order now we can assure that your child will have their supplies prior to the first day of school.  Remember, we provide the kits as a convenience so if you would prefer to purchase these supplies yourself please be sure to refer to the grade level supply list.  We will also have headphones and recorders available for purchase separately as many already have these two items.

Summer Camp kicks off on Monday, June 8th.  Our camp includes five days of activities, from 9:00-3:00 pm.   You can choose to add extended hours and specialty camps to your menu of summer fun.  If you wish you can choose to attend all summer or as little as one day.  Please call the main office at (702) 242-8838 for more information or you can pick up a brochure from the front desk.

To our PTO Board, classroom liaisons and many parent volunteers our thanks and gratitude to each of you for making the 2014-15 school year a success.  And to Diane Swanson we will forever be in your debt for the endless hours you spent putting the yearbook together.  We just would not be able to offer all the extra fun activities and programs without your support and service.

A Volunteer

  • One who performs or gives services of his or her own free will.
  • An unselfish contributor of time and talent for the good of others.
  • Person whose dedication to a cause or organization inspires others to give of themselves.
  • One who works much, sleeps little, and cannot be thanked enough.

And I close with a special thank you to each of your for trusting us with your children each day.  I consider it a great privilege to be the principal of Merryhill Elementary School.

Thank You,

Theresa Gotay, Principal
