A Letter From the Principal

August, 2016

Dear Parents,

Summer is just about over and the children are probably getting excited about returning to school on Monday, August 22nd.  If you want to get started on your back to school shopping please go to our faculty directory and click on your child’s grade level teacher to see the requested supply list.  Our teachers coordinate their grade level supplies so it will be the same for each grade level no matter which teacher they are assigned. All of our faculty and staff are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing with your child.

We look forward to seeing you at Orientation Day on Friday, August 19th,  from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.  You will be able to visit your child’s classroom and meet the teachers.  In addition, there will be a brief formal presentation in the individual classrooms at 10:00 A.M.   During this time our caterer, “Wholesome Tummies”, will also be here to answer any questions you may have and provide tasty samples for you to enjoy.

Reminder:  Your second tuition payment (Early Withdrawal Deposit) was due August 3rd.  If you have not made this payment, please make sure that you drop this payment off at the school office which is open daily.  You may mail the payment if you wish. Please remember that if you did sign up for ACH (Automatic Checking Withdrawal) that service will NOT begin until your September 1st payment. As stated on the 2016-17 Tuition Agreement a $30.00 late fee will be charged if tuition payments are paid late. Tuition payments are due on the first of each month and the mandatory late fee will be incurred at Noon the next day if not paid.  Again, we encourage you to sign up for ACH to avoid any late fees, as well as, a savings of $15.00 per month.  Forms are available in the office.

An Extended Care Sign-up Form is included in this mailing.  Please complete this form even if you will not need Extended Care this year.  We must have a form for each child on file for reference.  If your needs change during the year, please remember that you will need to complete a new form and provide 30 days notice.  Extended Care payments ($219.00 per month) are payable monthly from August 2016 through May 2017.

New families are reminded that we need a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate, as well as, a copy of their Immunization Record.  If any of our current students have had any recent immunizations, please make sure we have an updated copy of this record.  These documents are a required part of any student’s file.  Also, if there are any legal or custody issues pertaining to your child, please provide copies of those documents as well.

“Emergency Information”, “Consent for Medical Treatment” and “No Walk Policy Statement” Forms were mailed to you in June and are also due on or before August 22nd.  Please make sure that you turn these into the office.  On the reverse side of this letter are “reminders” about driving in the parking lot.  All the requested forms and reminders assist us in making Merryhill a safe and secure environment for your most valuable possession – your child.

Sincerely,

Theresa Gotay, Principal

 …..Important Parking Lot Reminders…..

We would like to stress to you the importance of driving safely and slowly through the parking lot, both at arrival and dismissal times.  Please be cautious and follow these rules.  Everyone’s safety is one of our utmost concerns.

  • Please do not use cell phones while driving.  The same law regarding cell phone use on the road, applies to our parking lot.
  • Curbside service is available from 7:50 to 8:05 A.M.
  • If you need to get out of your vehicle to get your child’s backpack from the trunk, please park your car.
  • Please do not drive through the middle aisles.  This creates a traffic hazard, as other cars are “cut off “ and it disrupts the flow of traffic.
  • Please do not pass cars.  Remain in the lane and follow the flow of traffic.
  • Please do not speed through the parking lot at anytime.  You should not exceed 10 mph in the parking lot.  Please use caution in our parking lot especially in and around crosswalks.
  • When walking, please use the designated crosswalks.  Drivers, please be sure to respect those in the crosswalks.  Remember, it can be especially difficult to see little ones from larger/higher vehicles, so please be extremely cautious.
  • Children should only exit your vehicle from the passenger side, never from the driver’s side.
  • You may not, for any reason, park near a curb area painted red, as these are fire lanes.
  • At no time whatsoever, should any child be dropped off in the driveway at Snow Trail or in the middle of the parking lot and allowed to walk to the building without an adult.

Please be conscientious and safe drivers and pedestrians.   Thank you!
