PTO

Throughout the year, we hold a series of events that showcase our school spirit. Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports many aspects of these events and is a great asset to our school.

Box Tops for Education
Sign up to support our school. It’s easy and free! The PTO collects Box Tops for Education coupons, which are found on a wide range of products. To make it fun for the students, we hold a competition by classroom, with deadlines throughout the year. The class with the most coupons per deadline wins a Pizza Party and the money benefits PTO projects. Please encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to get busy clipping! Your online holiday shopping dollars can benefit the PTO by going to www.boxtops4education.com and register with your favorite online retailers.

Spring Carnival: Dates to be determined. More information and opportunities to help plan this amazing event will be coming soon. Spring Carnival is a great way to raise money, socialize with other Merryhill families, play games and have fun.

Spring Book Fair: Dates to be determined. More information will be coming soon.

EScript at Vons: Renew or sign up by November 1 to help earn money for our school. Just log on to www.escript.com and click either “Yes Renew” or “1-Sign Up” and follow the steps!

PTO General Meeting: Meetings will be held quarterly in the Merryhill gym. Meetings will resume during the school year. If you will be needing child care during the meetings, please call the office at 702-889-2803.

How Do I Become Involved with the PTO?

By volunteering just a few hours a month, or even a few hours in a school year, you can make a difference. The volunteers involved in the PTO are committed to making the best decision possible to benefit our children. A majority of the members on this year’s board were new to the school and/or the PTO. As a group, we encourage parent and teacher participation and make every effort to be fair in our decision-making. we hope you will consider volunteering your time to help continue the tradition of providing added benefits for our school through the PTO.

Without volunteers, a PTO would not exist. The more volunteers we have, the more opportunity there is to share the responsibilities. This allows volunteers to commit to a specific activity and know how much time and effort will be involved. Too few volunteers could jeopardize some of the programs the PTO supports.

The PTO Board meets quarterly to discuss the budget, school activities, and to review items presented for approval. Each position also plays a key role in following-up and supporting one or more of the committees listed below.

The board positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

A committee chairperson and committee members are needed for each of the following activities: Arts & Enrichment, Book Fairs, Box Tops, Community Partner Programs, Family Nights, Special Events, School Dances, Pre-K Graduation, and Yearbook.

To become involved, or to leave suggestions and feedback, please contact your school Principal, or leave a message in the PTO mailbox located in the school lobby.
