What to expect in kindergarten
I believe that a solid education must meet the academic and social-emotional needs of children. I have high academic expectations for my students. Curriculum will be differentiated for each student, based upon on-going assessments. I expect students to follow classroom rules and procedures, and to complete their work at a high level. My goal is to create a learning environment that is structured and safe. I want students to leave kindergarten feeling confident in what they know and curious about what they have yet to learn.
In addition to academics, we will also learn social-emotional skills. Students will develop into strong problem-solvers, communicators, and team players. Students will also work on being kind, empathetic, and thoughtful of others. My curriculum includes lessons, songs, and activities that support the life skills found in The 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey. These life skills will support the academic and social-emotional needs of my students. My goal is to create a classroom family that will work together, play together, and grow together.
First In Math is a great on-line math program that allows students to practice math skills at their own pace. Contact me if you need your child’s username/password to log-in.
