Every two weeks, our Character Development program brings the entire school together to explore and celebrate the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, reinforcing values that shape compassionate and confident leaders. Dragon Spirit is also a tangible part of our school culture, radiating through our hallways and in every interaction. School-Wide STEM Fair The Merryhill San Jose STEM Fair is a signature community event that brings learning to life through innovation, creativity and discovery. Each year, our students showcase their curiosity and problem-solving skills through hands-on projects and interactive experiences that highlight the power of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. More than an academic showcase, the STEM Fair celebrates the confidence, perseverance and imagination of our students while bringing together families, educators and community members to support and inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators and leaders. It is a reflection of Merryhill’s commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences that spark a lifelong love of exploration and prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing world. Art & Author’s Night Creativity comes to life in a showcase of our students’ art and writing. Every spring, each student has two pieces of artwork framed and displayed in our multipurpose room. The students choose something they have written this year and add illustrations and a cover. The work is then bound into a book. The topics covered for the Art and Author’s Night are multimedia collage, modern art, optical illusion art, idiom books, an ideal weekend, and much more! When the books are finished, the students are recorded sharing their work. Buddy Bench Our buddy bench is a bench for our students to sit on if they are looking for friends to play with. When other children notice a friend is on the buddy bench, they can invite them over to play so that no one feels left out. The bench is a great way to promote the themes of kindness and belonging within our student body. School Shows At Merryhill San Jose, we have two yearly shows where our students take the stage and showcase the skills they have developed through our Performing Arts program. These meaningful performances provide students with the opportunity to build confidence, creativity, teamwork, stage presence, musicality and self-expression while sharing their talents with family and friends. Our International Spring Show celebrates the diverse cultures represented within our school community by highlighting music, traditions and performances from around the world, creating an opportunity for students to learn about and appreciate global perspectives. Our Winter Performance Showcase brings the magic of the season to life with favorite winter tunes and memorable performances that celebrate student growth and creativity. Both events are a reflection of our commitment to providing students with enriching experiences that allow them to shine, embrace their individuality and create lasting memories as part of the Merryhill San Jose community. We Build a Family Merryhill San Jose is more than just a private elementary school – it’s also a family. Our students, staff, and parents are intertwined with the many amazing events we have to offer at our school in addition to academics and extracurriculars. We include families in fun activities such as our Trunk or Treat, Holiday in the Parking Lot, Coffee Chats, and Carnivals. Families are also involved in educational activities such as our Tech Challenge, Spelling Bee, Speech Competition, Math Competitions, and Maker Faire. It is important to us to build a strong relationship with our students and their families so that they love coming to school and always feel included.
