Mrs. Caitlin Gates - Third Grade

Hello Third Grade families! My name is Mrs. Gates and this is my seventh year teaching third grade here at Merryhill Midtown. I was born and raised in Sacramento and I am so proud to call this city home. I earned my BA in Child Development from Sacramento State and later earned my teaching credential from National University. In my free time I love reading, going to Kings games, spending time with my husband and dog, and getting out in nature as often as possible.

In 3rd Grade we…

-Build a positive classroom community and develop SEL skills daily. ❤️

-Write in a variety of genres including narratives, opinion pieces, and informational pieces.

-Develop an understanding of multiplication, division, and fractions.  Students will become true mathematicians through multiple real world projects.

-Begin novel studies, which provide the opportunity to deepen comprehension skills, build authentic vocabulary, and make interdisciplinary connections.

-Expand our knowledge of plant and animal adaptations, environmental changes and effects, and fossils.

Please reference the Classroom Notes tab for our schedule and important dates.
