Dear Merryhill Parents,

As another academic school year comes to a close, we are filled with a mixture of pride, gratitude, and excitement. We are especially proud of our Pre-K students as they complete their final days at Merryhill. Many of them have been part of our school family since infancy, and it has been a privilege to watch them learn, grow, and reach this important milestone. We will cherish the many memories we have shared with them and wish them continued success as they begin the next chapter of their educational journey.

We are equally excited to see all of our students transition to the next stage of learning here at Merryhill. Each new classroom brings exciting opportunities for growth, discovery, and new friendships.

This has been an incredibly successful school year, made possible through the strong partnership between our families and teachers, along with the support of our curriculum. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, whose passion, commitment, and care have played a vital role in each child’s success. We also want to thank our wonderful families for your trust, encouragement, and ongoing support throughout the year. Our accomplishments would not have been possible without this collaborative partnership.

As we begin the new school year, the first few weeks will focus on helping the children become familiar with their new teachers, classrooms, classmates, and daily routines. Our goal is to provide a smooth and positive transition by offering engaging activities while building the strong relationships and sense of security that help children feel confident and excited about coming to school each day.

Please don’t hesitate to share any important information regarding your child’s individual needs, routines, or preferences. Our administrative team is always available to answer questions, address concerns, and support your family in any way we can. Feel free to stop by the office, give us a call, or send us an email at any time.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your child’s early education. It is truly an honor to partner with your family, and we look forward to another wonderful year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences together.

Warm regards,

Yvonne Valenzuela
Principal

7 Books Perfect for the Night Before the First Day of Preschool

The first day of preschool is the beginning of an exciting new chapter, but it’s also a big change for young children. As they get ready to meet new teachers, make new friends, and settle into a new routine, it’s natural to have questions or mixed emotions. Reading together before the first day can help children feel more prepared, encourage meaningful conversations, and make the transition to preschool a little easier.

From comforting classics to stories that celebrate confidence and independence, these books are wonderful choices to share before your child’s first day of preschool.

The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn

Starting school can feel a little scary, and Chester the raccoon isn’t sure he wants to leave his mother. To help ease his worries, she shares a special family tradition—the “kissing hand”—a loving reminder that she’s always with him, even when they’re apart. This heartwarming classic offers comfort and reassurance for children who may be feeling nervous about their first day of school.

Llama Llama Misses Mama by Anna Dewdney

Llama Llama is nervous about his first day of school. Everything feels new, and he misses his mama. But as the day goes on, he makes friends, joins in the fun, and discovers that school isn’t so scary after all. Best of all, he learns that Mama always comes back.

The Night Before Preschool by Natasha Wing

Told in the familiar cadence of The Night Before Christmas, this fun and reassuring story follows children as they prepare for their first day of preschool. It builds excitement while helping young readers know what to expect.
