Dear Merryhill School Families,
Welcome to the 2016 – 2017 school year! What a joy it is to see our returning students who have moved to the next level as well as the many new families who have joined our school this year. Thank you, for your continued support and trust. We are committed to providing your children with the best educational opportunities possible and look forward to all the 2016 – 2017 school year has in store for us.
Our teachers have a busy fall planned, so please remember to review parent boards, lobby displays as well as our school website, so you are connected with all that is happening at school.
Please join us for our first community event – The 16th Annual Run in the Dark Event held by the Community Storehouse. This event features a 5K and 1-mile Fun Run and will be held at Bluestem Park at Alliance Town Center on Saturday, September 17th. This event is held to raise awareness and funds to help children in the Keller, Northwest and Carroll Independent School Districts succeed in school throughout the school year. Merryhill School has a team participating, please go to http://getmeregistered.com/homepage.php?id=124771 to register. We will also be hosting a booth in the Kid Zone, so please stop by and say hello and win a prize!
Beginning September 1st, our Links to Learning curriculum will be in full swing. You will start to see evidence of what your child is learning at school on hallway and classroom education boards as well as daily Links 2 Home communication and the overview of “What We Learned Today” posted on each classroom door. Learning activities are taking place daily, in all age groups and displayed. You can expect to receive your child’s “My Fun and Busy Month” folder, sent home at the end of every month. Not all learning ends with a tangible product, and sometimes it’s a learning experience. For this reason, teachers are committed to communicating with you daily, weekly, monthly about the process of learning that is going on in their classroom. We also like to take pictures, so you can see the steps your child took to learn a particular skill.
Please remember, my door is always open if you should have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and we wish you an awesome month!

A Powerful Connection to a Lifetime of Learning
Your children experience the perfect balance of learning and play in a safe, nurturing environment. Our Links to Learning (LTL) curriculum prepares them for kindergarten by introducing concepts in reading, math, art, music and much more. You will receive progress updates, as well as ideas to continue learning at home.
You can expect to receive daily communication and pictures via email through our Links 2 Home program. And, we also encourage you to take a few moments each week to review your child’s classroom Links to Learning “Parent Board”, so you can “Link” to your child’s early education experiences. Posted are “Weekly Skills”, “Lesson Plan”, “Daily Schedule”, “Monthly Spanish” and “Learning Outcomes”.
