We had a great first month of 2018 and are looking forward to spending the rest of this winter season with you and your children. Our teachers and staff are hard at work creating meaningful learning experiences for the month of February. Thank you to those of you that participated in our annual parent survey, we appreciate your feedback and support! When the survey results are in, we will be examining them carefully for areas of improvement and will share our plan with you when it’s ready. This month Valentine’s Day is upon us. Many children may associate this celebration with love. There is lots of gifts, candies and goodies that they are seeing during this time. Instead, we would like to focus on the Power of Love. The Power of Love fosters the development of compassion. Compassion is a way of viewing the world through the eyes of interdependence and interconnection. We have a choice to see the best or worse in each other. The Power of Love asks us to see the best. It allows us to see the light within every person at any time. Seeing the spark of beauty in each person does not excuse behavior or eliminate consequences; it allows us to hold hope for the hopeless, safety for the fearful and encouragement for the discouraged. As adults, this can be very hard. I encourage you to take a good look at how you view day to day actions that happen with co-workers, spouses and your children. Try to see them for the good and allow for compassion to be able to share or teach a new skill to someone.
