Hello Rocklin Merryhill Families!!
Happy New Year and Welcome 2019!
We are overjoyed at the response from all of you in support of our Holiday Giving activities! We collected 65 pairs of new pajamas and 30 books for the Pajama Program, benefiting local foster children.
As we move into the new year we look forward to spending more time getting to know your family and building a community together.
I have included a reminder about our Illness Policy in this month’s newsletter. We appreciate your support and consideration as we work to keep all of our students healthy and safe.
January will be a little less hectic than December! Our students will still be busy learning new concepts and continue their focus on Links to Learning skills. Each classroom has some fun lessons planned! And our SPARK program will continue to keep our children engaged in some big body play, even if it’s too cold and rainy to go outside!
We will celebrating our parents the week of January 22! Look for a special surprise in the office each day.
Several of our families have taken advantage of the Merryhill Ambassador Program and referred family members or friends to our school. Those families received a tuition discount just for sharing their excitement about our school. You can join them. Refer a friend or family member and get that tuition discount for yourself!!
I hope the New Year finds you healthy and happy.
Warmly,
Sue Stewart
Principal
Illness Policy
Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. Children may not attend school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours if they display any of the following:
- Fever of 100 degrees or more—must be fever free for 24 hours with no fever-reducing medicine before returning to school
- Vomiting, diarrhea or stomach upset
- Heavy nasal discharge requiring wiping every 3-5 minutes
- Persistent, non-productive or barking cough
- Sore throat
- Skin rash (unless doctor’s note is provided stating child is not contagious)
- Head lice
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior unlike child’s normal demeanor that may indicate illness
For more information please see Sue or Aubrey.

Reminders
Nut Free: We are a NUT FREE school. We do have some students with nut allergies and appreciate your help in keeping all of our children safe and healthy.
California Licensing Regulations require that parents check children in and out using our electronic system.
Tuition Options: We appreciate that you make every effort to make your tuition payments on time. As you are aware, tuition payments are due on Monday of each week (or on your child’s first day of attendance). To save you time, the headache of having to remember your checkbook every Monday and to avoid those pesky late fees, consider enrolling in our automatic payment program at no charge. We also accept credit card payments or you may use our Parent Portal. Please talk to Sue or Aubrey for more information.
LTH Binders: Our Links to Home Binders are located either just outside or right inside your child’s classroom door. Please make it a point to check these daily. We send Ouch Reports, Merry-Grams and other school information home via these binders. They are a great communication tool!
Art Files: Please remember to check them at least once a week to pick up your child’s amazing art work. Towards the end of the month you will also find your Parent Letter, Monthly Skills and Spanish vocabulary for Beginners through Pre K2.
Clothing and Nap Items: Remember to update your child’s extra clothing as the seasons change and your child grows! Please label all of their items so we can return anything that may be forgotten at the end of the day. Any soiled items will be placed in plastic bags and put into your child’s cubby. Each child needs a blanket and crib size sheet for rest time. Sheets and blankets must be taken home on Fridays (or you child’s last day of attendance during the week), laundered and returned on the first day of attendance.
Merryhill Elementary School: If you are interested in having your child stay with Merryhill School for kindergarten and beyond, please visit our elementary campus at 1115 Orlando Ave. in Roseville, just off of I-80 and Riverside Ave. The school contact information is 916-783-3010 or connie.curiel@nlcinc.com.
