Happy spring! We have a fun and busy month planned for our students. In each classroom we are focusing on art and science activities that celebrate spring and our students are looking forward to the egg hunt later this month. Our students always love our annual Earth Day celebration and this year we are releasing ladybugs, butterflies and praying mantises!
With the arrival of spring we want to make sure all of our students can take full advantage of our outdoor play spaces. One of the best ways to ensure this is for each child’s cubby to be cleaned out and made ready for the new season. Please make sure that your child’s cubby has a full set of well-fitting, weather appropriate clothes that are labeled with your child’s name. Additionally, now is a great time to start collecting sunscreen so that we are ready for the first hot and sunny day of the year. Please label all containers of sunscreen that you send to school with your child. We have sunscreen release forms in the front office. Our teachers are planning outdoor games, lessons and picnics to celebrate spring. We can’t wait to share these activities with your child!
This month brings the Week of the Young Child (WOYC) to Merryhill! During the week of April 8-12, we have LOTS of special activities planned to celebrate our youngest learners. Our overall theme this year is “Changing the World, One Child at a Time.” We have different ideas for each day of the week; Music Monday, Tinkering Tuesday, Work together Wednesday, Artful Thursday and a special surprise for Friday! On Wednesday we’ll participate in the St. Jude’s Trike-a-Thon once again. This is a great way to help our students understand that not every child has been given the gift of good health and we have the ability to help those children.
Even though our Priority Registration period has closed, we are continuing to accept registrations for the new school year. (It will be here before you know it!) One of our classrooms has a waiting list already, and another is nearly full. If you haven’t registered yet, now is the time! Please don’t hesitate to speak with me or Aubrey if you have questions about the registration process.
Warmly,
Sue Stewart
Principal

Reminders
Nut Free: We are a NUT FREE school. We do have some students with nut allergies and appreciate your help in keeping all of our children safe and healthy.
California Licensing Regulations require that parents check children in and out using our electronic system.
Tuition Options: We appreciate that you make every effort to make your tuition payments on time. As you are aware, tuition payments are due on Monday of each week (or on your child’s first day of attendance). To save you time, the headache of having to remember your checkbook every Monday and to avoid those pesky late fees, consider enrolling in our automatic payment program at no charge. We are also accepting credit card payments. You can also use our new Parent Portal. Please talk to Sue or Aubrey for more information.
LTH Binders: Our Links to Home Binders are located either just outside your child’s classroom or right inside the classroom door. Please make it a point to check these daily. We send Ouch Reports, Merry-Grams and other school information home via these binders. They are a great communication tool!
Art Files: Please remember to check them at least once a week to pick up your child’s amazing art work.
Clothing and Nap Items: Remember to update your child’s extra clothing as the seasons change and your child grows! Please label all of their items so we can return anything that may be forgotten at the end of the day. Any soiled items will be placed in plastic bags and put into your child’s cubby. Each child needs a blanket and crib size sheet for rest time. Sheets and blankets must be taken home on Fridays (or you child’s last day of attendance during the week), laundered and returned on the first day of attendance.
Merryhill Elementary School: If you are interested in having your child stay with Merryhill School for kindergarten and beyond, please visit our elementary campus at 1115 Orlando Ave. in Roseville, just off of I-80 and Riverside Ave. The school contact information is 916-783-3010 or connie.curiel@nlcinc.com.
